Help requested with CPE flashback chassis and shock mounting

Post by Buggyjam »

Hello

I've recently acquired a CPE flashback chassis. I'm not sure how to mount my shocks. I'm running 4 shocks. I can see I'll need spacers to step them out from the chassis, I could make those. That's not the problem. Shock holes and balls tend to be metric 3mm as in anything rc. But all the holes in the chassis for shock mounting appear to be 3.25 so imperial and useless for rc bolts. If I run an imperial bolt through, it'll be too large for the shock holes. If I run a 3mm bolt through, they rattle around. I've seen plenty of photos of this chassis, and obviously was designed with this in mind, so what are you supposed to do?

Thanks

I would think some 3mm nuts on both sides of the chassis plate would solve your problem.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. What is the imperial size CPE use, do you know? Just so I can buy a drill bit or bolts in that size should I need to. I'm not used to imperial. It seems to be about roughly 3.25 mm equivalent.

I'm curious as to when CPE designed this, being a clod specialist what they thought you should actually use to mount the shocks, given there's loads of holes for choice all in imperial and rc componentry tends to be metric.

I believe he uses 4/40 thread.... I have no idea why he doesn't use metric hardware.

I think the chassis you have came out last year, but I'm not 100% on that.

Thanks Andy

When you next speak to Brett ask him would you :) ? It's been boggling me since I've been using CPE why they use imperial, especially as they've drilled a ton of shock holes in imperial on the chassis to allow adjustability which are absolutely no use for rc shocks. All my rc tools don't fit, it's a right hassle. And trying to buy small scale imperial stuff in the U.K. Is - hard. Thank you for the dating too.

The clod steering stuff I got off CPE was 6-32 thread, a little bigger than 3mm.

Thanks hardcore, appreciated. It's definitely imperial stuff is it? I need to acquire a set of hexes to fit the hex bolts and my metric aren't the fit so if I order imperial hex keys I hope they do the trick.
