Extreme Kyosho Monster Tuber Build

Post by NorthernNightmare » Sun Aug 20, 2017 1:36 am

I been planning this build in my head for a long time, it is going to be very unique with some twists 8) Hopefully I can get most the ideas I want included into the build, it starts with this chassi I welded up in 3/16" tubing.

The specs are mostly going off a savage XL body and wheel base. :)

Thanks guys, I will updated this when a few more parts come in and I can make a roller out of it

And yup they are the big 8.5" units. The standared 6.5" are a bit too small for this build, and the 8.5 are a bit large.

Im still going with a 1/8 savage xl body so it should look kinda factory, kinda like if hpi built a savage solid axle monster truck.

Hey guys I almost got this tube unit in a roller so check it out 8)

The air shocks are true functioning no spring inside, there will be 2 per corner, full adjustable so lots of tuning involved

Love how the radius arm mounts and trans cradle worked out, just gotta button up the upper shock mounts and all the small stuff now. TTR parts are on the way!

Thanks again :)

I just gotta do the body mount setup, and choose the final powder coat color. I think i will do catapillar yellow or something industrial like that. Including all the metal tie rods, motor plate, beadlock rings (theres lots of metal really) oh and the swaybar setup (witch i have yet to test fully) but you can see the mounts for it at the back half.

The only xl body available right now is the gmc top kick, not my style at all for this build but i ordered one anyway haha

The shocks are very trick, 10 by 100 and have 4mm shafts, you can set the main and sub air pressures to get some crazy dampening effect, they hold air over night and off some big drops! Im also testing with some slightly bigger bore cylinders that are working even better (insert lots of air shock tech here) blah blah blah

In short, it all works just fine 100mm of travel over 75mm in just up travel thats more than a 1/5 baja 5b. Even with all that travel the drive shafts are dead straight most of the arc.

The math teacher can kiss my butt i did some red nek tech and something went right

Right now I think a lot of it is the Holidays, then after that winter-time builds usually pick up everywhere.
