Old Clodbuster guy getting back into it

Post by Crazed64 »

My clod was my 2nd RC car, Id say I got it in 1990?

I used to do the monster truck show halftime entertainment with it in Portland Oregon back in the '90s

I'll figure out how you guys post your pics here and put some up in a bit.

My truck was never setup for big flex, It was setup for airtime. My best was clearing 3 crushed cars and landing on the downslope at one of the shows.

Old pics from when I first built the truck, never had the kit. With the help of my friend Ric Keen, just collected parts and made me a "Digger"

Pretty much after every show I would have to rebuild the whole truck, broken wheels, bent frames etc...

Was running trinity speed gems diamond motors (12x2) and 10 cells while at the shows.

Here it is freshly rebuilt and ready for another show... maybe '92? '93? ( also had my mail order suspension link company name on the side)

I didn't get any pics from the last show I did, didn't break it with my new (back then) setup.

Here are the pics as it sits now.

Notice the solid billet top rails...was tired of bending them.
Image

Also notice the upper shock mounts, these were awesome, and I sold a few from my little company

Lower mounts, Diamond motors, Blue Links..
Image

Locked out rear steering to the case..
Image

I don't remember who made this steering bellcrank, and I made the servo mount.

Pretty rugged servo for '92
Image

Made these little carbon fiber link braces..
Image

Billet lower plate.. I kept the screws hanging down so I could see on the crushed cars where I landed! (Flatheads in this trucks future)
Image

Looks pretty good for 25 years old.

Old school perfection right there man! Great thread. What year was the last time that truck ran in it's final setup, which by the way is awesome, never seen upper shock mounts on a Clod like that!

I'd say the last time it ran was 1998?

I want to play with it some in the yard, moved into a place with 5 wooded acres.

Thinking some of those holmes hobbies 13T, my super rooster, and Lipo?

Not sure what I'm up to yet, just getting it dusted off.

Yes sir. I'm almost positive that the pics of your Clod jumping real cars have been posted before. Wow, what a blast from the past!

Cool pictures! That truck looks sweet too! That bottom link mount plate and shock set-up is pretty neat as well. Looking forward to seeing your updates to a 25 year old truck! 8)
