Motor Mount Sleeves?

Post by Mr Clickerson »

Started doing a tear down of a set of Clod axles I picked up not long ago (first Clod build), and I noticed that the motor mount holes in the gear box are larger than the 3mm screws used to mount the motors. I got a random sleeve (one) in the bag of parts I got with my axles and upon further research noticed that these are used to set the proper gear mesh with the stock gearing. I plan on using the stock gearing with the 5700kv Castle motors I have set aside, and I figure that'll be fast enough for now.

My questions are; how important are these sleeves, and if need be, where can I find a set? I have not been able to find anything online that states which parts bag they would be in or if Tamiya sells them separately. I've done all sorts of searching on the web to no avail, only a few mentions of removing them, as well as mentions of motors shifting without them. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Merry Christmas.
