Wish I had known you guys were looking into king shocks... as I have heard nothing but bad about them. The cheap knock-offs are just as good.... or at least that's the feedback I hear in the crawler community.
I knew full well going into it that they would be crap, but I also figured I could make them work good enough. My problem was I couldn't find anything else in that 120mm length. The only problem with them is the stock o rings in the bottom are the wrong size. The ID is to big and doesn't seal around the shock shaft very well. The shock shaft is more like a 1/8th scale buggy diameter. But the shock body won't accept the OD of an 1/8th scale o ring. But the OD of the RC10 o rings is better but the ID is wrong, you end up stretching the o ring on the shaft just a bit. All I had laying around were replacement o rings for my old RC10's and my RC8be. Like I said not the perfect solution but works so far. There may be something out there that would work even better.

Man I tell you what guys guys, I see why the EVX-2 is the go to ESC. I feel the Hobbywing is out too for me, I don't like the fact that the BEC is only 5v.

I use King shocks on my GCM 1/10 Jeep JK 2dr. I bought the China knock-offs also, and they work just as well

Ok I think I know what I'm going to do for a speed controller. Rather than invest "some" money in some odd ball off brand ESC or something I don't want, Id rather invest good money into something I can maybe use in something later down the road too. Being that I'm fully converted over to brushless setups and I have several Castle Creations ESCs in other vehicles and never had any issues with their products. I trust them. I think what I will do here is get a Mamba Monster 2 for this zilla build. I like the the fact that the new Mamba series has just the plugs on the ESC for motor wires, so I can solder my own wire Ys to run to the motors. And if they are like the old versions, they will run any brush motor you want with no limits. So I will start with just some cheap silver cans for now and then maybe experiment with mod motors later. That video that Andy showed me of the stock motors on 3 cells was very impressive, a tad faster than what I think I would like so later down the road I may still go ahead and get a pair of Tekin 30t's

In a holding pattern on this build, waiting on some more stainless screws from RC Screwz and some decal sets from MCI. I pulled the rest of the Phillips screws out that I used for mock up and now the chassis has nothing but button head stainless. I tapped the bumper mount holes in the gear boxes to an M4 thread so I can mount my aluminum front and rear servo mount bumpers. I've also decided on some low profile hi torqe metal gear servos from spektrum. So really I'm just waiting on parts now.
