I Have this Clod...

Post by hardedge » Mon Jul 13, 2015 10:47 pm

I built it 20 -25 years ago on a Sassy Chassis chassis. It's 6WD/6WS --which was very novel at the time. I stashed it in my girlfriend's (still, after 40 years!) mother's attic and was just reminded it was there (along with a 4WD/4WS Clod) over this past weekend. At some point in the 2+ decades it sat there something crawled into the attic and found one of the front tires tasty. That was no big deal. Found a replacement on eBay.

It's the back 8 tires that are causing me agita. They've gotten a little flat-spotted from sitting there --and I can't seem to find any replacements. They sit two to a standard Clod wheel, V-thread, same ID and OD as stock Clod tires --they're just each half the width. Since my memory has faded to black on them, any clues would be gratefully accepted. Thanks!

Cool Truck!! Like your own garage find. On the tires, I guarantee someone here will have all the info you need.

That was an attic find. Reason the squirrel got to the tire. This was the other Clod that was up there. Looks like it got some attention from the other end of the squirrel. (Built around the same time period.)

I'll keep my toes crossed on the tire ID.

Love the Giant Tracs on the dusty rig. What condition are they in?

Three appear fine, one has a flat spot I'm hoping to work out of it. From what I understand, they're extinct.

If you mean the 6-wheeler, the body needs major repair. (Who knew that CA had a 25-year lifespan?) I replaced the squirrelized tire, and I really need to take a refresher course on the oooooooold PDI ESC I'm using for the 3 motors; the fender-mounted fog lights are broken (there are no apparent Bullhead replacements), and the lighting needs a total overhaul. Just the short wish list. :-) But thanks!

Did you build the toxic crusaders truck? Reminds me of a truck that was in a RC car magazine years ago, well probably decades ago.
A off roader may be able to jump and run around a track. A on roader may be able to run circles around the road but a monster truck will run over anything and everyone.

The toxic truck kind of reminds me of either ninja turtles or rugrats.

Same era, same genre. What can I say? I was a mere child of 37 at the time. :)

Oh man, you're an old guy! =D>

Yes, I did build Toxie (about 25 years ago) when I was doing freelance work for RC Car Action, It originally had a Toxic Crusader "action figure" straddling the bed. (Also built the black 6WD/6WS Big Tow" truck for them.)
