Alex's TX-C2 Ford f-100 build aka FORD OF THE DEAD ???

Post by GRAVETXT-1 » Fri May 23, 2014 12:05 pm

Before I start this build thread I should say that I was 100% inspired by sixtys guy tx-c truck to do this build 8) .

While I wait for Jon to do my Valhalla truck paintjob I couldn't resist doing a tx-c build. Sold a big load of vintage lego and star wars to fund this build which had been sat in the loft 20 odd years.

Ev9d9 (brown robot) made 36 pounds (61 dollars) without missing hand would have made a LOT more! Tie fighter made 37 pounds (62 dollars) so just those two examples alone made me 123 dollars!

Ordered nib txt-2 from banzai hobbys japan as txt-1 is way to expensive nowadays not to mention hard to get hold of.

As with all my truck builds I start of with a name and take it from there I plan on using a proline 56 ford f-100 body so hence FORD OF THE DEAD. What do you guys think of the name any good?

Don't worry I wont be using those ugly txt-2 tyres or wheels for that matter. Parts used so far; metal shielded bearings plus Rc guy pro steering kit and CPE axle mounts.

Hope you enjoy the build :) .

Aww shucks

I like the name! I quite often think I will come up with a name of my own, but I can never think of one! You're keen starting with a brand new TXT-2 to then toss the axles! Looking forward to seeing the build!

SG thanks buddy glad you like the name I kinda wish I called my Bullhead build BILT OF THE DEAD but I think the spooky theme will suit the old school rounded shape body of the f-100 better.

If anyone fancies using BILT OF THE DEAD with their Bullhead build please go ahead and use it. Cheque made payable to... just kidding  .

Got an awesome deal off banzai so not using the txt axles an easier choice to make  :) .

80's MonsterMan thank you so much :)

Alex, where's the updates????

I have a few pieces from RCGuy and Level 3 RC on the way for a new project!

I had a look at the Banzai Hobby website. Wow, cheap! But..... shipping to Australia on a TXT is $180Usd!! No idea why it is so expensive to Aus.

Ha ha you are right mark does seem a bit photo lacking compared to my usual build threads but have no fear a nice update coming soon :P .

Ooh always exciting starting a new project is it a shafty or moa or are you going to keep us in suspense and surprise us? Plus will you name your truck this time?

I feel your pain with the postage I cant count the amount of times I have been stung by customs with rc gear from Usa/ Canada. Am going to confess I got stung with the txt-2 72 pounds custom fee #-o which is a lot in dollars! Shame would have been a huge saving otherwise.

Real stick in the :butthead: but we do what we have to don't we for the love of the hobby :D

Haha, keeping it under wraps for moment in case it doesn't work! It is Clod axled though. Already finished the body, so it is already named! Not an original name though :(

Ouch on the customs fee! We're fairly lucky here, if goods are under $1000Aud then we don't get charged anything. Over $1,000 is a bit hit and miss, just depends if customs pick it up when it comes into the country and what country it comes from.

Not very exciting update but added rc guy upper link mount and a few other bits. Mock installed the axles on the chassis to make sure I have clearance with horizontal servo mount and yes no clearance issues.

Waiting on some 106mm shafts for the chassis plus rod ends then I can really get going :) .

Thanks mark am not installing either of the black metal side plates so need six 106mm threaded alu shafts as chassis supports. Will be keeping the two 7x79mm shafts either end which hold the bumpers on so eight shafts in total. Am going for skeletal look the txt-1 chassis had, be mega strong too.

I assumed that the chassis wouldn't have enough strength without the side plates. That would look very cool though. You can buy just the plastic frame on its own from Jasons Store too..... (Rubs chin, thinking of a new project).....

Woops I didn't realize you can buy the txt-2 chassis separately #-o still not decided whether I prefer txt-1 over txt-2 chassis yet.
