1Bads Demon Clod

Post by Justinswraps » Mon Dec 10, 2012 7:53 pm

Ok well no matter how hard I try I can not seem to stay away from the clod, not that I want to I just wanted to take some time and get another rc to bash on so when I finally do build a clod I dont get mad and decide to sell it. Now that I have the slash 4x4 its time to do another build.

This time around a friend is making me a one off chassis. I dont want to post who it is or what he is making until he says go for it. Im not here to steal his thunder either, I will let him post pictures of his chassis when he feels like he is ready to show it.
The cool part is he is building himself one and building me one  I will say I wish I had is mad skills though

Any way the truck will be based on a racer clod, I can not get away from the looks of a race clod they are just so bad arse looking  Going to keep this one brushed for now until I feel comfortable making the leap to break more parts by going brushless.

Hopefully I can keep up with this truck and not get flustered! Like I said I have something I can actually bash on now if I do end up breaking the clod. I need all the support I can get

Plus I can make a great write up on it since this is my stay at home dad time of the year. So I will have nothing bettrer to do

I got things rolling now on the build. The chassis is paid for and is in the process of being built  Personally Im pretty excited about this chassis. Now im going to have to line up some axles for purchase. Does anyone know if rc4wd still makes the wheel wideners with the barrel nuts or is CPE wideners about all we have left? Im just getting tired of drilling holes in the wheels, its kind of a pain in the neck.

If you go with CVD's plus use txt hubs and wheels... I have found this is a good racing width and no need to use wheel wideners.

very true... forgot about that... DOH

The txt parts will add a little more width... the CVD's are only 1/8 in of the equation per side

You would need to pick up txt stub axles

 Ill probably just slap the CPE wideners on it. In the mean time im stuck between these two themes for the truck  I contacted Terry Plum and Brian from Brians bodies to see who is cheaper and if Terry can do a wrap in it that would probably be the cheapest. What do you guys think? Ive never seen the Boogey van done up. And TeamBlueGroove has a aero star body

These are the ones I like to use. (I used them on my Z2 build)

Not too wide, same width as what I used on my mod clod for so long too.

Right you might have to drill out the hole because i think the hole os to small for thr berril nut

Correct.
I don't think I had to drill out the center hole of the wheel, if I did it wasn't by much.

Charlie uses these if I remember right.
They look like a good idea to me, and will let you run 14mm wheels too.
