Drawing up plans for my Clod Project

so i WAS just gonna take the short cut and buy a Rage chassis, but i decided i might try my own creativity (well kinda) in building up my own chassis.
My dad knows a guy who does car parts for him. and he has this metal lazer cutter machine thingy, and so i can draw up my plans and he can cut it out of aluminum.
So the chassis wont be anything too special. i got it mostly from just looking at other chassis. i am planning on making adjustable link mounts like on the ripper, but it will have closer dimensions to the Boss Kong chassis, except it will be more of a ladder frame design. the suspention will be 4-link, with ESP Ball Bearing Jugg Cants, the top links will be mounted on the Inet Upper Link mount. i will probably just make my own bumper mounted servo for stearing in the front and back. i was going to keep the rinky dink red plastic bumper mounts, but i will see what i can do to replace them in my own way.
once i get started i will definitely post some pics. this clod project is going along side my boat and trailer projects (this clod will pull those) so it wont be zippity fast, but i am working hard to draw it all up.
any tips would be fantastic as i have never done this.

Hey now, I finally got to try out my mod skills! I'm thrilled. Deleted one of your double posts, as you asked.
Lasers are awesome! They can cut exremely intricate pieces depending what cutting head and what thickness of material is being used. It's pretty cool stuff. We have a bunch at work, and I help do some of the maintenance on them, but they are usually really busy with production, otherwise I'd love to cut my own chassis too.
I'd skip the bumper mounted servo. The best is to mount it up on the axle brace or else to the side of the gearbox half, next to the center post, sitting veritcal. Bumper mounts work good, but they take away ground clearance and more importantly, approach and departure angles.
If you want a nicer set of cantilevers, get New Era's for the TXT-1, or else JPS's. Those are both nice machined alum. parts. I personally love a cantilevered chassis, but it isn't necessary to get good articulation. They are my fav. though. Inboard mounted shocks look great and nice and clean.
Good luck. Keep us updated.

Shel is not a Mod, he's one of the Pit Crew, who was brought on to help organize ClodTalk. And he better get cracking too!

But Halgar, Pit Crew sounds weak in comparison to a Mod!
Thanks Dustin. Even if I wasn't part of the Pit Crew, I'd still be happy answering questions and being a member here.

ahhh pit crew, so what colors are the pit crew folks? i coulda swarn i've seen a few of them in green. hagler are you green too? i know when Bill is on it's that orange pink ish color. we should get colors, like members with more post count or something falls into a place where like they get to be maybe a "respected member" and maybe they get a special color, then normal members with like post below 500 gets their own color and then the super members get like a color. I've seen this kina thing on few other boards, was one of them Invision boards or whatever
