I may have missed it but I didn't see anything about it,
so, how would you do shadow designs. I am not sure if that is the proper name for it, but if anyone knows what I am talking about any help would be apreciated.

I would use a pearl color because they are see-through

I was looking around and I guess they are called Ghost paint jobs, and the main thing seems to pick two closly match colors and make semi transparent. Is that right?

I'm guessing your talking about droop shadows. If you are painting flames or whatever your design is. Fist mask out your design and the fill your airbrush with balch or a darker color of your maincolor and spary a light coat along the edges you want to give the appearence of a shaddow. Then paint your main color follwed by the part you have masked off. See some examples in my gallery on RC10b4.com here http://www.rc10b4.com/gallery/showgalle ... ppuser/628
or there is a good pic here as well: http://www.clodtalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=9921&highlight=
I hope this is what you were looking for or I wasted some time here

That would be called ghosting. I'll post more on how to do this when I have a few more min of time. It's easier than droop shadows though.

Wow sorry it has been a long time since I last made a post. Ok so for ghosting... It's actually very easy but it does require mixing paints in most cases and an airbrush. The trick is to mix the paint one or two shades lighter than the main color. The just spray the outer edges of your design. Let that coat dry and spary the rest with the same color as your main color.
If you going about this the old rattle can way. You can still get a decent ghosting affect when your using lighter metalic colors of candy colors work the best. First mask off the design, flames if you will. The spray your main color. Candies will ned several light coats. Make sure you note the numer of coats you used though. Let your candy color dry very well. Next back your candy color. Backing is normally done with silver or gold cor most candy colors. Let that dry all the way then remove your masking. Then spary the masked area with a few less coats of the same candy color you used for your main color. Let this dry well. Next time to back the candy color. This can be tricky though because you only want to back the edge where you flames meet your main color and not cover the whole flame design. Once that layer is dry hit the rest of the area that is not backed with a few more coats of candy to match your main color. Let that dray and finnish off with your backing color.
This is a sure way to get a killer paintjob even wirh the use of rattle cans. I hope this is of some help to you guys. If you have any questions please PM or e-mail me I'll be happy to try to help you out.
Josh

Here is an example of droop shadows. Look for the shadows behind the flames on this Fairlady Z body I painted.
