Project Max Max

Post by SWMS » Sat Dec 31, 2016 1:51 am

A certain someone recently called out a bunch of folks for not posting on the boards and only posting on FB, and I decided to hop back into the forums and check things out. I just spent an hour reading through people's build threads, and boy do I miss a good old fashion build thread!

So I am going to do my best to document my next project on this forum and on RCMT.

This is officially the beginning of project Max Max.

Pictures and details to come soon just as I did with my KK1 and KK2 builds.

Empty ships make the most noise (facebook) forums will still be around long after certain " life invader " apps have long gone. Yes keep it locked to Clodtalk and RCMT!

Only time I have ever used facebook was to order a ZRP product even then that was because it was the only way to contact the seller...

I started on the CAD work months ago, so I am not going to go through the evolution of the design via CAD. I am going to jump straight into the cutting and building portion of this program.

I already have a TVP chassis (KK1) and a cage/realistic chassis (KK2). What I am missing is a full on race chassis.

So, as you may have guessed, The Max Max is a full on Carbon Fiber race chassis. It will feature the same flexibility of mounting setups for Axial trans and axles, FreestyleRC axles, and Clod axles.

Now for the pictures......

I forgot to take a picture of the first cut for the first plate, but I did get the first cut for the second plate:

Plate cut coming along:

And two prototype plates cut out. Nice!

Love it!

What does it cost to have a set up like that to do custom work?

Thanks guys! I've been noodling on this one for quite some time.

My machine had been giving me fits and I was having a love/hate relationship with it. I've got most of the bugs worked out so we're on speaking terms again.

These initial plates are purely prototype and I'll use them to verify fit and function. I will ultimate destroy them while testing.

I had a little time before running to a morning appointment.

I quickly put together the main section of the chassis. I will be doing some mock up with AR60s tonight.
