Hello all. I've been frequenting these forums for the past few weeks ... reading, viewing, enjoying, etc.

I recently purchased a Clodzilla II roller off of a certain auction site. I still have yet to receive it, so I have no pics. Here's what it comes with...

- Clodzilla II Chassis
- Clodbuster Axles (Not Locked)
- Chrome Wheels + Tires (Not Glued)
- Traxxas Big Bore Shocks all around
- Pro-Line Chevy C10 Body (unpainted)
- Spare Axle Parts and New Pinion Gears
- RC Guy Aluminum Front and Rear Servo Mount Steering

Not Included: Motors, servos, radio, speed controller, battery

I plan on adding ball bearings all around (I assume it has none).

Thoughts / Questions:
1] What motors / speed controller do you suggest? I don't want anything crazy, but perhaps a bit better then stock. Was thinking Tamiya's electric dual speed controller, but what motors?
2] I would like to lock the back diff ... whats the best way to go about doing so? And if I do so, is it then necessary to lockout the rear steering?
3] Do the Traxxas shocks perform well enough for basic backyard bashing?
4] In order to remove the chrome form the rims, is Easy Off oven cleaner the best route to go? And can I RIT dye the rims after the chrome is off?
5] Whats the best way to mount a battery in the Clodzilla II chassis?

Thanks everyone.

Congrats!

Go with an evx-2 and a pair of titans. I'd suggest not locking the diffs as this tends to make turning a real pain in the horse. Locking the rear steer can be achieved by buying a lockout from CPE. Here is a link for these of your choosing http://www.crawfordperformanceengineeri ... cPath=9_30
Traxxas shocks are quite a regular with clod owners, and should serve you well for your needs. EzOff does take off chrome but is quite toxic so be weary of breathing in an of it. Yes, you can dye the rims with RIT after the chrome is removed just make sure you wash them really good beforehand. Not sure on the battery sorry. Hope this helps.

Mount battery's width under the elect tray. Or you can make a bracket and mount them lenth ways . I have seen it done both ways. If your useing only one battery lengenth ways might be better. Andy or Todd has done it this way.

You probably didn't wait long enough. If it came out brown then it is definitely dyable.

Thanks for all you replies guys!

I am actually leaning towards going with two Clod 540 stock cans and the EVX-2. In the future, I may switch to the Titan 550's.

Right now I have two 4600 Nimh batteries with Traxxas connectors, but they are 7-cell with the hump in the middle. Do you think I will have a problem mounting those? If I only run one battery, do I need to get a Y-adapter for the EVX-2?

I am hoping to receive the truck my middle of next week.

Understood. Then do you think there would be any problem with painting them black? And what paint would you suggest? Thanks.

I really want to do a zilla 2 sometime soon. There is just something about them!

The hump pack should fit a zilla 2 chassis easily, just not sure what they come with for a battery mount. it would be easy to put something like this in to mount whatever type of battery you desire > www.crawfordperformanceengineering.com/ ... ucts_id=56

Good luck, looking forward to pictures.

The plastic in clod wheels is not dyable. Many have tried, all have failed.
If you want a different color you must paint them.

I just recently got done re-building a clodzilla II, thread is here:
http://www.clodtalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25720

I strongly reccomend using the motors/esc out of the brushed version of the full-size traxxas e-revo.
In regards to battery placement, does this help you?

welcome to the forum and we all love pics so post as many as you can lol....

You can use any paint made for plastic and it should work fine...I have painted my wheels black and blue and I have had no problem...even if it chips you can always go back over it with another coat and it will look new again

Everyone here is nice so ask anyone for advice...i consider myself still new and alot of people here helped me...if you can afford it upgrade to brushless later...you can run a single 3s and it is soooooo much better lol...

Thanks for all the input guys!

I'm now undecided re: motors... Stock 540s or the Titan 550s, lol.

Yeah just paint them I got some Krylon flat black paint yesterday to do mine...... Yeah dyeing was a complete fail! I left them in for 45 mins with a whole pack or rit dye and they still came out brown and to top it off my rim is all warpped ! Good thing it was a test wheel

Oh, another question... servos. I plan on mounting the servos to the gearboxes. Can I use basic Futaba servos (like those that come with a radio transmitter), or do I still need to go with a servo with more torque?
