if the string retracts but motor doesn't crank then it's the one way. temporarily you could spray the bearing with brake cleaner but you should still get a new one.

I just picked up a almost brand new savage x for crazy cheap 150 us with k 4.6 jumbo swamp kong tires worth about $100b and bunch of other upgrades also at least $100, Dont worry I not using the swamp kongs for the savage but another project

I gess my question is, with my the roto start that is broken been using a drill but the backing plate is also loose and about to fal;l apart.

I ordered a few different pull starts for the reason I not sure witch on is right for my engine, one purple say big block on it and the other is a kit and black says only hpi kit....

I hope I can just get a new owb at my LHS

For pull starter issues, I have also gone through a couple of one-way bearings. I finally found out that super cleaning the bearing I was actually ruining it. My thought was "why would I put oil on it, it will slip" , not true. The one-way needs a small amount of oil to keep it from burning up when the engine is running. Once I realized that a gentle cleaning (simple green vs. carb cleaner) and a couple of drops of oil was the ticket I stopped ruining bearings.

And yes, with the starter off, it will feel like the bearing is fine but you have to think about how much torque you are applying when yanking on that cord.

Damb I just got my 2x pull start, and the o.w.b I bought is to large.

It fits on the engine, but the hex is 12mm I belive is about 2mm too big, both pull start asembleys are the same

Where can I get more parts for this Savage, I bought just about all my available parts local, and lots off e-bay.

But there sill lots to be put in my parts collection, like the rear engine plate, and diff sets....
