The onyx had a black can. There was a chart with all the colors/winds kicking around here somewhere....

i know but this has a chrome can with a black end bell on it. This is the one I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Trinity ... true&rt=nc maybe I could run it on my yellow xl5 stampede 2wd . if the xl5 gets hot and dies then its got to be a lower turn motor i would think lol. I have a novak super rooster i can run it with if the xl5 goes up in smoke on my stampede.

Purple stripe would make it an Opal or 10x3 turn/wind.

all the speed gems 2 have the same label sticker with purple stripes on the label that are parallel with the motor shaft. like these Image

this is an opal Image
unless they went to chrome cans at some point i might have an onyx since it has a black top

I remember reading somewhere that later on they got away from color coding the cans and it was all on the label.

It has the same labels as the above motors so its not on the label. I did look a second time on the armature. There was a black marker in two spots on the armature . Its just like the black one in the picture but with a regular chrome plated can and not a colored/painted/coated can with a black end bell. The more i think about it , the motor is probably an onyx 14x2 because of the black end bell. I might experiment with it in my 2wd stampede when i have more time and is bored sometime.

That is a Speed Gems Chromium.
It is not an Onyx.
The Chromium is a 16 x 2 motor and a good one.
I have one of them as well as many others in the Speed Gems line.
I tend to collect the old brushed motors and their tools.

its not a speed gems pro, it is a speed gems 2, older than the pro series. looks just like the black canned onyx with black end bell but with a chrome can. so it is not the speed gems chromium, looks nothing like that motor.
