Mamba, Sidwinder, Velineon, Toro... HELP!!! Advice needed

Post by Awesome Kong84 » Fri Jul 17, 2015 5:12 pm

Just getting back into the rc game and I keep hearing about how far along brushless systems have advanced and battery supplies are greater than ever before. I have been doing some research on a system for my CPE Barbarian build and trying to find out what will work best for me? Biggest difference I've seen of course is price. But what makes these systems different? Which is the best "bang" for the buck?

I want reliability, durability and waterproof.

Any advice is appreciated

The SV3 (sidewinder) and velineon systems are the water proof ones.

The new velineon system is a 4-poll set-up (the SV3 is as well).

Both have enough power to break parts very easily...... :explosion:

The castle system is more tune-able, but the velineon will have more power and is more service-able.

So tough of a decision to make. I'm so familiar w/ Traxxas and their customer/tech support when I would go through TRX.15 engines in my T-maxx and how they would always help me out. I hear so many good things about Castle and how their motors seem to deal w/ heat better than most (still need to come up w/ a gearing configuration).

The way it sounds is that either Castle or Traxxas I can't go wrong

Castle motors are NOT easily service-able though. I've had a few bearings go and the out put bearing is pressed in..... I had to take a dremel and grind the bearing case out of my last one........ and the rear one I'm told is glued in.

The velineon motor IS service-able.
