Johnson 600 motors

Post by lunch_boxer » Mon Jul 28, 2014 3:58 pm

Over the weekend I got a very mint TXT 1, super stoked but it's a slow heavy pig. I just won 3 Johnson 600 motors off eBay. 3 poll 19 turn. I plan to run a pair in this truck with 19 tooth TXT 2 pinions and a traxxas 9.6v 8 cell pack. Hope this wakes this truck up a bit. Any thoughts?

if you are staying brushed, they should work. Are those 600's the same size as the Traxxas 775's? I bet those would work well too if the fit the motor plate.

They are 3/8" than a 550 motor but the same diameter and mounting as a 540/550.

You might need 3s or 4s to wake them up a bit!

I received my motors from the UK a couple days ago. First thing I did was removed the flux rings "2 per motor" and broke them in using the water method and ground flats on the motor shaft for my set screws.

I got them in the TXT 1 "very tight fit if you are using the stock top plate the esc sits on" I'm running Robinson 19 tooth hardened pinions ended up using a VXL 3s esc and a cheap ebay 3s Lipo.

I only got to run the truck for about 5 minutes due to work but I'm shocked at the performance gains the torque is absolutely ridiculous, they seem a good deal faster than the stickers as well.

I'm confident I could go up in pinion teeth a little more based on temps so far but I want to run it a bit more before I do so.

Has anyone used these motors on a Clod? Or any other 600 sized motor like the LRP Big Block Specials?

I have not, but I can tell you that you would have one heck of a time getting them to fit due to how long they are.
