Not exactly,

Pressing and holding the button with the esc off, brings you into programming mode.
This can be for calibration, or mode running mode set-up (standard/race/training)
This is were the flashing lights come into play.

Pressing the button with the esc on, and holding it for about 10 seconds will cause the light to change color AND more importantly you will hear a tone.
ya it's been awhile since I messed with one.. like said the instructions are on traxxas.com for free to program/ switch modes on them..

I did some testing today, and I can now confirm that the LVD on the EVX-2 does indeed work with a single 3S lipo.

It kicked down to 50% and eventually, will cut out all motor power if you keep going. My low voltage alarm was plugged into the lipo as a safety measure. It was set on the low side.... 3.2v..... and it never went off. Cells were around 3.6v when tested after bringing the truck inside. Very happy to see the EVX-2's LVD works with different voltages.

No plans to try 5S..... I may be crazy.... but I can't afford new electronics right now...

When I first installed my EVX-2, the only thing I ran was my 3S pack and stock cans for a few months and the LVD worked great.
Honestly, I never knew it was rumored not too cut off correctly with a single pack...
I just made the jumper and rolled out.

I have an evx-2 without lvd, how do I hookup just 1battery . Want to cut down weight. I know it wont run with that much juice or endurance.

Just posted, can evx-2 with lvd use only 1 lipo 2c also?. For weight reduction.

Yes it can, it can use a single 3S lipo as well.

Take the non-BEC plug and short it, most use a shorted battery pigtail and plug it into that plug vs shorting the actual plug.

Question: EVX-2 LVD Motor Limit. Are they referring to the minimum or maximum motor? I want to use 27T, 35T, 55T for my crawler.

They are referring to the lowest turn count it can handle.
You are good to go with the motors you are asking about.

Bumping an old thread with some EVX questions.

Can you run a single 4 cell pack on the EVX-2 with a jumper plugged in?

link for example:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... LXETTH&P=7

I'll be running stock cans, or titan motors geared up.

Do any of you guys ditch the connectors on the motor side for 3.5mm bullets?

thanks

Have not tried a 4S pack, so no idea there.

I have done 3.5 bulllit connectors on my slash's 12T motor and it did give it a slight boost.
I also went with 12g wire though, and I use an 80C battery.

Thanks

I'm also debating on using the brushless traxxas ESC i have from my stampede, but that would leave the vehicle stranded or go back to brush

Is the Velineon controller better than the EVX-2 on a 3s set up??
-Higher gauge wire,
-higher bec amperage
-pre installed 3.5mm plugs

Evx-2
oober flexibility
lower gauge 14
easy to install 3.5mm plugs

still haven't made the jump to lipo but an looking at a max amp or trinity hard case pack

Since you already have the EVX-2.... I would use it.
If you solder well.... consider skipping connectors altogether, that would also help to get rid of resistance.

As for battery choice. I would say SMC or SPC as I think the 2 you mentioned are waaay overpriced for what you get.
