Devils Diamond 4x4 termyte puller

Post by Justinswraps » Sun Oct 05, 2014 2:13 am

I've been itching to get a puller for some time now. My local hobby shop has a few ppl that pull, so I figured if I can't race clods I may as well try pulling! Traded off my last clod for this. Yes Clodimus is gone. I would have never ran the truck anyway  I'll put this thing to use.

It's a 4x4 termyte. Using TLT locked axles and axial trans with all steel gears. I ordered a 7700 kv motor for it and will be running the MMP esc. I would like to get some better tires down the road. I'll see how it pulls before I buy the rc4wd pulling tires.

I spent weeks trying to come up with my own name for it. I like stuff that's dark, so I came up with the name Devils Diamond. Reason being is the body will be black and chassis will be powder coated black chrome. The black chrome really pops, that's where I came up with diamond. I did however polish the rails to see what it would look like. Looks ok but I really want it to pop.

Really looking forward to finally getting into some competition after a 22 year hiatus from any racing/competition.

oh, That looks really nice Justin! What weight class are you going to run that in? I'm trying to remember if the 4x4's even have a weight class.

Yeah, you will want to get a second truck. When I pulled last year most of the guy's ran in multiple classes with two to three trucks. I only had the one so that meant I only got to run two times. Not enough for the amount of time put into it. Kind of why I lost interest in it.

Tires, weight distribution and gearing are key I found out when I was racing.

Well finally got the truck together!!! Wound up going back to the TLT wheels. I think they look better 8)

Going to head to my Lhs this weekend and hook up to the sled for the first time. I can only assume I'll have a bunch of tweaking to do. Can't wait though!!!

Nice work Justin! This truck has morphed into a piece of art! 8) I think the other wheels would have been just as nice as the TLT wheels if they were the bright chrome. But once you hit the track, you may have to experiment with both for the right traction. BTW, are you running on carpet or dirt?

Thanks Jeff. It turned out well I think. I needed up changing them because the tire and wheel combo are to heavy for the TLT axles. 3s is going to get those babies really cranking so wheel shake would do more damage than good with my current axle setup. I'll be pulling on dirt for the most part
