As tempted as I have been to get stuff from HPI or Axial......I have been trying (for the sake of simplicity) to stick with Traxxas and Tamiya.....and Traxxas don't make a crawler (with solid axles).

I have wanted a CR01 (Bronco) for the longest time, and I just did a trade for one....well it's not a bronco, but at least it has a Ford body on it.

I'm going to steal a few of Rcmaniac78's pics.....as he is whome I got it from.

......and I'm the one who had to clean the tranny after this...uhhhhgggg.....but at least I was forwarned.....

I got it all cleaned up and even got that axial motor running smooth as silk too (everything was caked inside).

It's not staying brushed though. I got a tacon 3200kv motor and a hobbywing 60A esc going in. I already tried it, and it looks promising.

I'm going to try reversing the chassis layout and putting the esc and rx up front, this is due to wire routing issue's with the motor. It looks do-able as the frame looks symmetrical front/rear.

More than likely, once I get that sorted out I will be going 4WS.

I found that the frame is symetrical (yay!).
So I moved the battery tray to the rear and put the esc up front. This is also going to make it easier to use a reciever box. I was looking the truck over.......I did not realize the wheelbase was adjustable! Dang this thing is neat. Drove it along the floor a little....it's quik, but far from fast....well, I suppose a 3S brick would fix that, but I'm not going to do that. I want to strike a balance this time around and not just make something stupid-fast (for what it is), because.....I don't think it would take it and I don't want to trash it. I actually want to try crawling/trailing with it.

Time will tell if I keep the cantileavers though.....

Pretty sweet rig you got there :D Crawlings fun if you have an imagination. Me I just jump things instead of crawl over em  That should do pretty good with the 3200kv set up not to fast but fast enough for a crawler.

Oh yeah.....there was mud-a-plenty on the outside, but that's not what I am talking about.
The inside of the tranny.....thank god it was only the spur gear side (and not the planetary gear side) was all full of silt and crap from the stream...... :?  :o

Boy when you go all out to get a truck dirty......well you really go all out. :P

One more night of working on it and it will be a runner! :D

I have a CR-01, Great trail truck. You will find alot of adjustability after you wrench on it for awhile.

Some of the guys around here go out with 15-20000 Mah, and are gone for 5 hours plus.

Good truck you have there.

Thanks Dave,

It's officially a runner now.....just need to get out and run it....
Did my first mod to it and zip-tied the cantileavers to get rid of the slop.
Being sensorless....it does cog slightly on really slow start-ups (under load), but other than that, no cogging. I've got the esc in crawler mode and have set the drag brake to 100%.

Thats alot of drag, but great for holding steep hill position.

As time goes by and you are doing some average to rough terrain you might want to back that off abit.

The option parts available are plentiful, and the drive shafts you have are some of the best. I am still running the stock ones,

with no real issues so far. I would like to run it more often, finding better or different trails close to home would help.

I left the battery up front, gives a little more weight up front for some decent angle hill climbs.

I used to have one of the original cr01 style tamiya 4x4s. It was a tamiya pajero though. I loved that thing, ran it till it literally fell to pieces. Tamiya stopped supporting it and I couldn't get parts so I eventually scrapped it for parts. Wish I hadn't now. If I ever get an extra 200 bucks i'll buy a brand new one.

The kit typically goes for $350-ish.......where you see one for $200? :?:

Ran it today!...... I am not happy with the rear metal drive shaft.

Dang thing came apart on me and someone (not Chris) lock-tighted the outdrives to the shafts.....would have been nice if they would have used some on the little cross pin instead.....

Other than that....I like it! :D
It's a quik little bugger.....well, for a crawler anyways.
(I got told I was nuts)

Once I get it going again, I'll be a lot happier. I either have to find a pin that will work or get the yokes off the shafts and put an axial shaft in the rear.

I may eventually replace both with the carbon version......but right now I ain't too happy with these junfact shafts.

I spaced on that, the pajero was the cc01 style not cr01. Same back axles on it though as the cc01 looks to have on both ends.
