Wow Alex, man don't know how missed this build! So the body you mentioned to me earlier is for this chassis? Love the old skool look of this build very clean congrats.

Thanks Marty yes the Clod body I mentioned will be mounted on this truck I was going to use a Mojave II hard body but turned out to be one inch too long so got a refund on it.

Sadly ZRP Retro Racer was not set up for Clod body ( unlike CPE Time Warp which is ) granted I would have to extend mounting brackets inwards/ outwards but that is easy.

So have had to reposition mounting holes 0.7 of an inch will fire up drill press tomorrow. Wish me luck drilling mounting holes in hard body's has to be the least enjoyable thing in this hobby. Ugh!

I see what you were saying with the other holes being that close. You could get a sheet of .040 styrene and cover whole underside of the bottom of the bed. It will strengthen those spots close with the holes. It will make it heavier but it will look very neat once done and cover up all those other hole you don't need. I was going to do this to my building as well before the body got trashed.

Managed to drill body holes spot on and get body exactly where I want it not easy. Body sits nice and low true retro style

Got these scale shock boots off RC4WD they are bloody massive! Way to wide to fit knock off shocks that I have surely RC4WD scale shocks aren't that wide? My bad should have checked measurements they don't look right just too big shame as they would look sick with body design I have in mind;

# Body sprayed black

# Neon green CLAWING DEAD text on each door

# Grill sprayed neon green

# Custom aluminum roll bar (stock roll bar will not fit due to body mount holes!)

Not having any luck finding a decal maker that can make me a custom set of decals for the doors each one I contact say it is not possible blah blah blah so I will have the Clawing Dead text PRO airbrushed.

Wont be cheap but be worth it.

Dude that looks bada$$ bro! Man you done great on the new body holes turned out perfecto. This is the exact stance and ride height i'm going with my old build now. Looks just like a truck out of the TNT Renegade monster truck series out of the late 80's congrats man.

Thanks Marty & Mark appreciate the comments glad I didn't go for RC4WD Chevy body overly expensive and complex not to mention slightly longer than Tamiya Clod body I believe.

Our very own Aron aka SicNme products made me this amazing one off custom battery tray for this retro build. Beautifully simple design which attaches to the chassis plates by two nuts and bolts per side. Battery tray simply sits on top of the two chassis x braces.

As you can see the tray fits neatly around body post mounts and gives enough clearance for the body to sit on top. Sliding lid is simply held in place by one screw per side.

awesome build just not sure that the bolts sticking out of the bottom of the axle mounts is a good idea.. Look like they will catch on things.

Thanks buddy I ran out of 15mm bolts and was too impatient to order more and just kept building and used 20mm bolts instead! I agree at some point I will find the patience and replace with 15mm bolts will look a lot better.
