[TT01] My Apocalyptic Volkswagen MK IV - A Mad Max Style Car

Post by The Knight » Thu Oct 13, 2016 6:45 pm

In my real life a drive since 10 years a sweet little Golf 4, would say the "car of my heart". So as a true fanboy I collect many scale models of this car and last weeks I got much lust to create a body shell for my new TT01. It's my first and last onroad chassis, but I very like it.

The project is ready, but it can't drive. I need longer body mounts and golden rims + drift tyres. So I used my old yellow wheels for showing my car.

Time to time I change the setup. Startet with a Killerbody Camaro.

I only use the TT01 for drifting. Fast onroad driving is much boring for me. So I changed it from TT01 to TT01E/D.

I startet early september to build a apocalyptic car inspired by this bro:

Important order: no costs! Only use trash!! All must be made by myself!

First step glueing and cutting front lights. It's replicas from a Golf 4 xenon head light.
PolyStyrol PS plastics, the cones are screw and cupboard caps. The blink lights are painted LEGO parts.

Then cutting out body and priming. Making PS parts.

Painting them...

Parts are all made of alloy grid, PS and plate.

Image
Colours from Revell. Email-paint and weathering powder.

colouring and colouring....and make rust.
So next step colouring the body:

Spray finished:

KILLING the body!

Rust! Made by sandpaper, colour and scratches. Looks fantastic in real life!

I made an air snorkel by cable, straw and shrink tubing:

Protect the co-driver with rusty steel plates:

Grid, rusted and a primitive air scoop
Image
the front bumper says: it's dangerous, beware of the Golf. ^^

Ice cream sticks, as nailed fence
Image

Details, details, details...
Image
Tweeter grid as window.
SHARK tatoo for more dangerous look.
A gas bootle for more power.
Much rust effects...

Image

Image
Realistic scale head lights with LED light module.

Image
Intercooler -> POWER! ...made of alloy and a CD cover.
The rusty grill is amde of computer graphics card slot cover and pins -> ouch!

Nice arse:
Image
Brass exhaust and wooden KILL letters.
The rear lights made of many little PS parts. I cutted out lexan from the body and painted it red and orange and broken it for realistic scale look.

Image
CC01 tyres to protect the roof.

I hope you enjoy it. I think this body style is very rare on internet. Nice variety.
PS: And sorry for my english. It isn't the best...

Too bad you don't like RCs more!

Very nice work, great vid, watched the armored mustang as well. Cool projects. 8) 8)

And don't worry, your English is a whole lot better than our German.
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Very amazing work!

I have gotten into the rock crawling part of our hobby. Many people try and make their trucks looks as scale and realistic as possible. As detailed as some of the trucks I see may be.... this surpasses most of them. That's a LOT of work and much of it looks very time consuming. Projects like these are a labor of love.

I'm searched for a cheap but comprehensive hobby. So I build sometimes alternative body shells instead of complete cars.
It's a nice hobby and a lot of to do and cheap of course, because doing all by myself.
