Vaterra Twin Hammer short coarse truck conversion

Post by Zac_F85 » Mon Jun 29, 2015 1:17 am

Well guys I am setting out on a pretty hefty build here - Going for a scale short coarse/ trophy truck using a Twin Hammer kit (not the RTR version). I have yet to buy a kit - next week is planned. I know being scale and actaully handling good like a modern Slash/ SC10 is a serious stretch, but that is the plan - especially since you can't get a DT-1 anymore. Here is the outline and/or plan -

Twin Hammer kit
TBG MRP Dodge step side body w/ DT-1 interior - bought this
Axial 1.9 Walker Evans wheels
RC4WD Mud Thrashers
Blue Monkey RC upright front shock plate - bought this
Blue Monkey Traxxas steering conversion kit
STRC aluminum Traxxas steering kit
Traxxas Slash 2wd shocks w/ AE springs
Savox 0252MG servo
Team Associated SC700/3300kv Brushless setup
Convert to 2wd (leave out front drive shafts so can go back to 4wd)
Shorten wheelbase by 1" (need help with this finding/making shorter links)
Will be single speed
Possibly a Axial honcho rear roll cage (plastic)
Adding Traxxas WP RX box
Axial locking 12mm hubs
Vaterra front and rear sway bars

Walker Evans 90's Dodge Trophy truck -

Any progress on this Zac? Looks like a sweet build idea for sure. I have seen the DT-1s on the bay from time to time so keep looking if you are not in a hurry.

I scrapped it sadly the measurements I found on Vaterra's site were WAY off.. the TW's is 220mm wide hex to hex unlike the 190mm wide they claim - my measurement is not including wheels/ tires and the body is 200mm..

Ah, That sucks. I was looking forward to seeing this come to fruition.

Me too! the truck body is now a crawler, a 78/79 Dodge D150 Warlock it will be.. maybe.. I could use a CC01 Tamiya but I hate those chassis, non adjustable gear ratio's, we'll see I am consumed by my Barbarian build
