Andy's stock-slash spec racer (part II)

Post by andymac0035 » Mon Apr 13, 2015 4:32 am

So about a month ago I drove a stock slash for the first time in quite a while and realized just how much I missed the class. Then I borrowed one ...... won the first night, followed up with a 2nd the next time around.

I was hooked..........

As many slashes as I've owned...... this is my first ever brand-new one. 8)

Our Sunday series is the "big" day though, and I had some stiff competition, and a tough new layout to deal with. No TQ on this day, but I was fastest when it mattered the most.

Also, my open-class truck was just not handling right. So I parked it and ran my stock truck in SC 2WD open. We had a big turnout for that class today, but I was able to make the a-main.... all stock too..... no tire-change like I used to do.

I like that color scheme Andy! It is really flashy I bet on the track and seeing how you are winning right out the gate everyone has an orange ball to chase. I noticed that you are lapping the field as well. Nice work!

2nd place was not too far behind, I just got over the timing marker before the race ended and got to go around one more time.
But yes, it feels VERY good, that guy beat me in both the qualifying rounds, he's very fast.

Well I didn't win this week, but had a great time. Won both qualifiers (in stock) and got TQ, then proceeded to fall apart in the A-main and ended up 2nd.

Also entered in open/mod and qualified in 3rd spot for the A-main...... with a stock slash.
Had some more bad luck and finished 5th, but it was fun making the open-class trucks sweat.
We had a lot of open class trucks too, with A, B, and C-mains.

^^^ :butthead: :nana:

Oh.. and won the A-main in stock slash today! :w00t:

Then took the same truck, no changes, entered in the open-mod class, made the A-main and got 5th.

Got another Wednesday night off and hit the Wednesday race series!
Got TQ in stock and went on to win!

Then.... in mod I broke my truck (long story) but I had qualified 4th, and subbed in with my stock slash.
Amid a sea of durangos, SC10's, and Losi's, only a Kyosho SC-R finished higher, yes, I got 2nd place in the SC-open class with my slash.

The highlight for sure, but also our video guru showed up and did his thing!
I even swapped on a camera-mount body during round 2 of stock-slash, this slowed me down a LOT and messed with my handling, I was waaay behind the pace when mercifully the camera came off .... I charged like crazy from almost a lap down and won the heat.... setting my best lap of the day, a 19.339, which was over half a second faster than my best time with my mod SC!

We have a 5-pack rythem section, on a fresh battery with a good run I can triple-double it, and that's what you see at the 18 and 25-second marks. 8)

I laid down my fastest (2WD) lap ever on the current layout today!
An amazing 18.9, which was also the fastest lap laid down in 2WD all day today!
(and this includes all mod-classes)

It was a the highlight of my day, as I got no wins today.... you crash when you push too hard and/or get bad breaks sometimes...

The funniest part?......
The guy I beat for 2nd place in mod class..... I beat his losi with my slash.....
He beat me in stock with his slash, I keep telling him he should ditch the losi....
The run in mod-class was awesome, as I got hung out to dry badly (marshal did not see me)... lost a LOT of time crashing on lap #3... I made a LOT of ground up trying to catch that losi.

I really like this truck so much, and it's faster that my mod LCG (brushless) slash in every way.
Yes, I know that makes NO sense... but lap times don't lie.... and that truck got sold today.... LOL

Wow, been a while.

We didn't have many stock trucks today, so they put us in the open/mod class ....and put I some nice mod tires on. Round one was okay, a 3rd... then round 2 happened... wow! I ran one of my best races ever, breaking out of the 19 second bracket with a 16.9 (I'm usually mid 17's with stock tires, and 17 flat with mods tires). We had lots of fast LCG trucks out there..... but I managed the win.... and also TQ'ed!

I led for a while in the main, but got messed up in lapped traffic and then crashed a few times trying to make up lost time. Still a great day, and a great time! We had like 18 trucks in SC-mod today.
