HPI Micro RS4

Post by SFC K » Sat Oct 25, 2014 5:13 pm

I picked most of this stuff up from RC10talk last spring. I started working on the Team Orion carbon fiber chassis. So far I have learned that they can be a pain to work on if you have big digits.

Anyway, I have almost three running cars now. I just need to get some lipos and two bodies for the Orion chassis. I want to keep these at the 150mm wheel base, and can be shortened down to 140mm.

This is an original Micro RS4 C5R Corvette I picked up NIB too.

Here is the Team Orion chassis almost completed. It has a HPI Sport 45T motor installed. I had an all aluminum suspension for it but the tiny little plastic ball end kept snapping. I removed the cross over shocks and the upper arms due to not being able to source some new ones that will not snap. Pretty much every hop-up I can find is going into the Orion chassis.

LOL, I know what you mean. I have been gathering items over a period of time. I just started diving into them. I have some spare items if you ever decide to get one, let me know. I would send you some spare bits.

Are these 1/32nd roughly in scale like the Radio Shack Xmods? Direct drive that thing has got to fly!

For years we ran a highly competitive racing program with them in southern Ontario ...... But the X-ray M18 and later M18pro totally took over...

The BRP micro pan cars were rockets too!

For the record...the HPI cars were fast.....they just required meticulous maintenance to stay fast....the Xray cars were as fast or faster and were stupid-proof...sauce the tires and pull the trigger...

Frankly..I miss the micro-racing....fast, competitive and relatively inexpensive!

It's a little crazy trying to focus on these things when running brushless mod.....and that was before the switch to LiPo!

I have not even ran one yet. I have used the BRP's before and they do fly. The X-rays have pretty much and will out run the HPI cars but for some reason they died off. Not sure why, and now the HPI Micros are back again. I may have to piece together one some day.
