Masking tape off last night, the green/blue paint was a bit thick in hindsight (lesson learned for the future, you don;t need 3 thin coats and two wet coats). End result a bit of a thick edge at the boundaries with the pearl white - onwards with a few coats of clear, then flatting and polishing. The blue green is quite a bit darker than i wanted but it'll have to do !

SO the SRB projects sit as follows currently..

SuperChamp strip and rebuild - still to start
Fighting Buggy build - chassis complete, body painted - just polishing, decals and final fititng to go
Vintage Rough Rider - 99% done, a few bits of final body accessory fitting and an ESC to install
Parts Build Sand Scorcher - Chassis almost complete, waiting on a few ball connectors for steering (arrival tomorrow), and an ESC (in the next week). Shell to be flatted, polished, decalled and glass/accessories added.

After all this activity I realised i'd bought quite a few parts that i already had #-o #-o #-o so it looks like I'll be building another SRB to consume the spares (again !) - It wasn't the plan (honest) !

..and whats worse is that 'only a few more parts' is becoming a longer list than i wanted it to be - better make it worthwhile lol!

Almost there with the last bitza SRB chassis, a few little items needed but 85% built.

So..

#1 Super Champ rebuild - yet to start
#2 Baja Scorcher - completed a few years ago - needs dusting off
#3 Rough Rider - completed a few years ago - needs dusting off (lexan runner shell)
#4 Fighting Buggy (Super Champ rere) - 95% complete (waiting on window netting, body clip and need to decide on a bumper)
#5 Rough Rider - rebuilt to rolling chassis, body repainted - 95% completed
#6 Sand Scorcher - chassis built and complete, bosy painted but needs finishign and accessories etc - 80% complete
#7 Rough Rider - chassis 85% built, shell to repair and repaint.

So still a bit to go at lol!

And in other news...

Won a set of Terra Crusher / TNX wheels and tyres last night for $18 delivered - didnt realise how big they were/are - going to need somethign beefy to utilise those lol!

Another one departed, took all of 46 minutes to sell on UK eBay..

So I'm down to three Kyosho now - my Optima Mid Custom LWB, my restored Gallop MkII and the resto Optima that STILL needs the shell painting lol!

Currently plodding on with the SRB projects, all the fiddly stuff left and a few parts still needed (ordered so should be with me this week).

In the meantime I'm putting toagther all my M-05 new spares to build a FIAT 500 bodied model for the son of a friend - nice little Christmas surprise for him :) :xmassanta: :xmassanta: :xmassanta:

I do like to keep busy lol!

Well its one step forward and three back with one of the SRB projects (the last Rough rider) - thought i was doing a nice white, gold and silver paint scheme with black pinstriping until the Tamiya masking tape reacted with the colour coats - tried all sorts of potions to remove the tape glue residue but even after going as far as 1500 grit wet n dry paper it was clear the reaction was into the paint layer. So the body is sat in oven cleaner again :( and when its repainted it will probably be in boring BMW Alpine white with some yellow / orange / red vinyl stripes.

I've had very little time for these in the last week with family weekends away and work commitments, plus the family bathroom gets revamped from next Monday.

I do have a deadline on the little Tamiya M-05 Fiat 500 for the son of a family friend, so thats taking my time. At least the chassis is built, the shell cut and ready for paint. Just need to add the ESC and radio gear after that..

Thanks.

M-05 build finished and now residing with a very happy 12 yr old recipient. I was as pleased to have it finished in time, as the new owner was receiving it.

A few finished pics, went old school with the radio gear as it was just easier to pull some out of another model to use in this, knowing it all worked well with minimal set up required..

Well found a few hours so one of the original Rough Riders is 99.9% done..

Original 1970s shell, stripped and repainted. Chassis about 80% original, i added metal rear cage and the Proline front bumper for a different look

And the Rough Rider parts build, mostly new parts (incl alloy chassis plate) topped with another original 70's shell repaired and repainted in Peugeot Moonstone Blue (not that the pics show much of the blue tinge)..

These are so cool. I always thought that the modern era of RC that lead to what we have today, started with those.

Very impressive buggies! They really mimic the appearance and suspension design of the full size woods and desert buggies of the 80's and 90's I loved to see as a kid. I've gradually liked seeing these kind of buggies built up more and more over the old RC10's. They just look cool and makes me wonder how they handle lol :)
