BLackfoot esc and motor

Although not considered a traditional monster truck, they still have monster coolness.

BLackfoot esc and motor

Post by l300lover » Mon Jul 17, 2017 6:28 pm

I'm going to purchase an original blackfoot soon. can I run a 550 traxxas titan 12t motor or will it not fit? I already have the traxxas XL-5 esc for it.

I do believe it will fit. Keep an eye on the motor shaft when you install it. The titan motor has a longer shaft. On some trucks I have had to grind it shorter.
The motor itself is also longer (the can) but I don't think there is anything in the way for it to hit. I'm just guessing here though, so take that with a grain or salt.

Unless the suspension lets the tire come up and hit the longer 550 can, then I don't see an issue.

Cool thanks guys! How will I know if the motor shaft is too long?

It will hit against the inside of the case and not let you tighten the motor in all the way.

What are the capacitors that came with the traxxas xl-5 esc? And how do I use them?

They get soldered onto the motor where the wires go. New 12T motors come with them already, so you should be fine.

I have the Traxxas 12T and XL5 esc running on my Monster Beetle with no problems at all. That combo is stupid fast!
