Dubbl-A's Arrma Kraton

Although not considered a traditional monster truck, they still have monster coolness.

POOF.
More like BOOM and then BURN.

I was about 15 minutes into a good run, having a blast, and I stopped to talk with my daughter and the smoke started. It then stopped. Turned it on an off a few times and all seemed normal so I let it cool for a few minutes. At this point I had the body off and I turned it on again for more fun and one pull of the trigger it was up in flames...big flames. I've toasted ESC's before but nothing with this much "presentation" if you will. Easily 8in flames that took many vigorous huffs to put out. Luckily, the body was off and I ripped the lipos out as quickly as I could and the truck was saved. To boot, I was recording the entire run on the camera and the 2min I had it off was when it went in flames...I'm still kicking myself for not leaving the video run...lesson learned. #-o
But I did get the initial "smoking" before the big burn on video that I'll post soon for your viewing enjoinment. Haha.
Enjoy the toasty photos...

When you let the magic smoke out of electronics, they stop working.

Yea, the magic smoke is right...
No worries though as I have some new goodies on the way...and it's not another Arrma ESC...or motor...
Stay tuned!

Here's a quick video of the initial smoking ESC before it went ablaze. Kinda funny how I saw it out of the corner of my eye.
And yes, I'm wearing socks with sandals. 8)

 So do you know what caused that to go up in smoke? I would swap out those screw on body clips. A lot of time went by before you could get to the heart of that machine to see what was going on...I like the idea though, just slows down access.

I have no idea. :(
It was running great and I came to a stop and it just started smoking. I got it to come back on and it moved just like normal and thats when it burst into flames. I was glad I had the body off or it would have been toast. The guy I bought it off of said he had the original ESC replaced by Arrma because the original ones had issues running 6s lipo. Being that this was supposedly the "2nd gen" ESC, I didn't have too many worries. Well, they didn't get the problem fixed...
It's sort of a bummer because the rest of the truck is built great and super tough and Ive had nothing break at all yet.

As for the body mounts, they're awesome and way better than using clips...but I agree, when your trucks burning itself to the ground its a bit time consuming to get the body off!
