Although not considered a traditional monster truck, they still have monster coolness.

It's been real WK, but you break too much. Time for bigger and better things.

So Brandon and I got to talking and he's having a delimma. Should we go with the E-Maxx 3905 dual-motor tranny, the 3908-single motor, the Summit tranny. or should we just take the 3906 2-speed with dual UE steel idlers out of the Jugg?? The stock trans is still a last resort.

The new Maxx trannies drop right in, though.

I should have some mounts in hand before the week is up.

I would see if the Electric version of the Mgt trans will bolt up. Otherwise the summit is a good trans, and the emaxx is a good one since you can get parts anywhere for it.

Nice! I would seriously look into just getting the E transmission out of the Rival and drop it in. Plus if you get the new Rival chassis it will be an inch longer for better weight displacement.

You'll end up spending over $70 by the time you source the parts for a Rival tranny. Too expensive.

I actually don't like the extra long WB. The Monster GT WB 14.5" (368mm), while the Rival WB is 15.51" (394mm). The big gap at the back of the chassis looks goofy, and that 15 1/2" WB is going to make buy bodies a nightmare. Indy trucks are already goofy-looking as it is.

I must agree on the proportion-thing.....the MGT WB looks a lot better.
I think your making the right choice with the tranny as well.

I don't know a whole lot about the MGT, other than that people who own them sem to like them a lot.

My only question is will the trans from the Traxxas hold up gear wise? The MGT has way more heft to it. If it is not steel gears in the transmission you might as well not bother with it. Just my thoughts...

The top gear and idler are steel, the bottom gear is plastic.

It should hold up fine. This mod has been done before with no reports of the tranny failing. The MGT 4.6(with stock tranny) is only 2.29LBS heavier than a Summit.

You and me both :) . These trannies aren't cheap.

Finally got my transmission mounts in. Now I just need to source some driveshafts/dogbones and drive cups and I'll have a roller. The Maxx tranny is shorter than the MGT's, so I need new driveshafts. I need 114mm up front and 96mm in back. The longer half shaft from the Mad Force axle (Kyosho MA024 - Drive shaft (114mm)) should work up front and a Hellfire front driveshaft(96mm) for the rear. I know what I need, but my piggy bank isn't jingling ](*,) .

Thank you, SicNme!! I really wish I could get them anodized, but that's more time and money.
Image

I'm loving it already. Had to make a short trip to Ace Hardware for longer 4mm screws to secure the tranny.

Those look really good! I hear you on the money in the piggy bank thingy...

Looks like you got a bead on drive shafts too. Keep it going!
