SFC K Clod#3 build

Post by SFC K » Mon Apr 06, 2015 9:37 pm

Well, it has really been a while since I have tinkered on a Clod and a pair of axles just literally fell in my lap. Thanks to R Cane over on RC10talk.com. These were my prize for the guessing the RC wrapped in aluminum foil in the Fantastic Foil Contest over on RC10talk.

I have a couple ideas on what I want to do.

Either build a Super stocker, TXT-2, or WK chassis, I am leaning towards the WK idea or TXT-2.

Pictures to follow soon.

First gear case is apart. Already need to get an order in for a bearing kit. gears are in really great shape with minimal amount of grease for once. I will also be taking care of the steering nubs and grind the back of the hubs down for better steering.

Well, I looked on the Bay and the TXT chassis are pretty much non-existent for the new Agrios chassis, but the WK-C, are plentiful and cheap so I might just go WK-C.

I finished tearing apart the other axle. I found one cracked hub so I placed in order with Brett from CPE for a set and bearing kit.

all parts are cleaned and ready for re-assembly. Now I am just waiting on the postman...

Interesting. I wonder if they come with any hardware or is it just the two plastic sides?

I had to wait for some parts for this as I was missing some 5mm "E" clips and the metal braces for the axle tubes. I also mounted rear steer lock outs I had laying around in the bin. New bearings were installed as well. I also had a TTR front steering kit on hand and started to install that. Is getting there now. I am going to go with center upper mount if the links can stay the same length but I need to decide on a chassis before I order anything.

I also shaved the hubs and the nubs off the axle tubes for better steering. I was going to use "C" stiffeners but the holes that were drilled do not match up with the ones I have from CPE so they will be staying in the parts bin unless I break a tube.

I must say it sure is fun tinkering on these again.

Finally took the plunge and picked up a WK chassis to get this build going again.

Nice prize huh. We need to get that game going again.

Are you going to do anything special with this build? 4WS with 4 servos? All independent with a 8 or 12 channel radio?
