My Clod Project: DER ZERSTÖRER (TXT-1 Chassis, Clod Axles)

Post by The Knight » Mon May 19, 2014 12:34 pm

Greets from good old germany.

I will show you my selfamde Clod Buster project called "Der Zerstörer".
It based on a red painted TXT1 chassis and clod axles. I using level3rc 4mount links, HSP links, wheel wideners, RPP steel ritzel, B&H tyres and ball bearings.
Now it have old brushed motors, but they should replaced by 23turn motors and 8,4v batteries.

In front and back are steel bumpers, which includes lockout (rear) and servo mount (front). It's not the best solution, but for first time I will see what happens, if I drive.
If it's not good, I would buy some nice parts from crawfordRC.

The body shell is a JConcepts Ford Raptor. I think it could be a little bit longer, but for first time it's ok.
Wheels and some alu parts are painted in black.

Sweet build man, really like the chassis as well. What color/s are you going with the body?

Very nice work, I would not change that chassis, but I would add anti-sway bars to it.

The chassis is the only part which will be red.
All the rest is black and some parts alu.

What means anti-sway bars? I don't know this!? Have a picture?

That looks great! Say, what wheel wideners are those that use the stock Clod wheel hub?

Sry I don't know the factory name. I also don't know, if they are present on market.

I like that chassis regarless of color. The red does look very good though.

Most of us refer to them as sway bars, but the true name is anti-sway bar. It connects the right and left suspension, making the truck resistant to leaning when turning.
There were sway-bars for the TXT-1, or you could make some using heavy wire.

Paint is painted and sticker are stickered. Thats the result:

I never would buy JP Performance body shells. Window templates and stickers either too small or too big and print images not the best. They also must be cut out.

Anyway I like the raptor, looks awesome.

Today bit cold outside, so I sit in my kitchen and worked on my ZERSTÖRER truck. I collect new parts and start to build them in.

New:
- 300 Oil
- Crason Cup Machones motors
- locked Diff in rear axle
- red shocks
- lockout and servo mount

Image

The old steel bumpers was not the best I think. Steering links rub.

The new diff:

Some impressions:

I just waiting for the new servo and servo saver and try to find a solution for steering links. Now, the parts are only dummies.

Till the next step

I hope locking the rear diff works for you. I was told not to do it in a stock app due to the axle stress and I did it any how and BOOM the rear axle broke you have an extra wide truck and that is even more stress on the axle.......good luck :)

One of my trucks has lockers front and rear. I run 15T Firebolts on 2S in it. I broke an axle when I drove into a brick  , but that's the only damage I've ever done.
