Well I ran into a couple snags this weekend.
1. I was planning on running Titan 550 motors, but they won't fit the Zilla 2 with sway bars. Soooo I'm torn as too what I'll go with next. Two Hpi Firebolt 15T motors or go with a couple of the Tor brushless systems.

2. I'm running into a problem figuring out a way too mount batteries and electronics as low as I can with the sway bars installed.

Let go through my pics and see how I made that work juicey.... because I had the titans on my zilla with the sway-bar kit. It was close, but they fit. Your not using adjustable motor mounts are you?.... because that would probably not fit.... :?

No I was going to 13t Robinson pinions and the titans bolted up like normal. The sway bars hit the can of the motor

I just looked at my pics and I don't see any that are really going to show what I did....

What I did was get some really small cable-clamps that were the right size to hold the sway bars, but didn't hold them too tight (so they could slide), and mounted them on the underside of the axle supports. It was a really tight squeeze .... and a pain.... but it worked.

Mine are mounted on the underside of the axle braces as well. They have the rod ends screwed onto the upper 4link screw and then they slide thru the ball in those.

Yeah, I didn't use the ball stud, using the cable clamp I was able to move the mounting position outward, and that's what you have to do to clear the 550 motor. That's why I said you have to get creative, figure out what you have on hand that you can use to mount the bar out further to clear that motor.

Hmm. I'll see how that works. That will give the sway bars a little preload which may not be desirable on a track.

You are moving them outward.... how is that pre-loading them in regards to the direction that they will function in?

Anyway.... it worked really good on the zilla with red springs (e-maxx shocks).
Problem I ran into was launching it... and landing it... broke a lot of link studs as I was using shocks mounted to the main links.... :explosion:

Handling itself..... when it didn't break.... was very good.

If its pulling it outward putting tension on it, then its preload.

I have tmaxx shocks with red springs at the moment, but I want too get some gmade shocks.

My shocks are mounted on the same screw where the lower link mounts bolt on.
If I decide too take those off then I'll get shorter shocks and mount them on the axle braces with the Cpe mounts.

Yeah pre-load...... in the direction it's NOT going to be flexed in....

Shorter shocks will have less travel unless you really lean them over.

I'll think about the sway bars.

I'm ok with slightly shorter shocks if it keeps the height low. At least for racing. Then jacked up for bashing.

vwjuice how did you deal with your sway bar situation? Im running a Zilla4 and just changed to the titan 550s and ran into the similar problem with my sway bars. I took my sway bars out. I'm about to put everything together as soon as my repair ESC comes in the mail.

LOL... he's not... Dave has been gone for a while and is playing catch-up. :)

As for Juicey.... he comes and goes, boy it sure has been a while.
The piece and quite has been nice though.

Have you tried rigging up the set-up I used on my old Z2 yet?
