14" links on a stock clod chassis

Post by Wookiee » Thu Jul 30, 2015 5:04 am

Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting some ali links and to get a slightly longer wheel base and was wondering if anyone has fitted 14" links to a stock clod chassis? There is a 1/2" difference in length between the stock link upgrade compared to the 14" links so if the 14" links will work i'd prefer to go down that track.

Regards

Carlos

They'll work no problem, but you'll want a set of conical washers to go with them as the rod ends used on those are thicker than what is used on the 4LCLOD kit. Thanks!

Cheers Brett

Whats the maximum length you can fit to a stock clod chassis out of interest?

There's really no maximum length as long as you have a long enough shock to mount between the chassis and axles.

Thanks Brett,

I'm working away at the moment so can't measure the shocks I have but think they are about 100-105mm. So is it the longer the links the longer the shock or the longer the links the shorter the shocks? I'm currently thinking its shorter shocks - longer links?? If I recall correctly if i depress the shocks my current links move away from the motor :?

With 4-links, the longer the links, the longer of a shock you're going to need simply because if where they need to mount. If you purchase a set of our CPE-SHK1 mounts, you can slide them along the links to fit whatever length shock you have though. Thanks!

Decided to go with the 14"ers to save any hassles i might have with just plug and play on the current set up. Also grabbed a couple of other things off you that I've had in my wish list.

You should have the order come through shortly if you haven't already seen it pop up on your system (guessing it's only 9:30am or so over there though). Let us know if there are any additional shipping costs to get it down here.

Out of interest, at some point in time will you update your shipping methods/costs at checkout to help us Aussies (and any other international clodders out there) process our orders better with shipping options/costs?

Thanks again for your help Brett.

Just paid the extra shipping charges Brett but don't seem to have received the receipt for it from Paypal so let us know if you don't get it.

Cheers Brett, I saw the confo email come through earlier this morning. Can't wait to get it all and get back into some Clodding. Hopefully it will rock up around the same time I finish up working away.
