Photobucket

Post by Sixtys Guy » Mon May 15, 2017 8:14 am

Has anyone else been having difficulty with Photobucket? I have been for the last 12 months or so. It is so slow. Sometimes it's ok, but today terrible.

It's working fine for me. In fact it's been working better the last month then it has in the past.

Yeh right. Mine uploads fine, but once the pics are on there it slows right up. Took about 30 minutes to post about 6 pics on my WK thread. Once I click on a photo it near stops.

Why don't you just load the pics directly (here) as attachments?

I've never actually done that....... assumed it would eat up bandwidth. Also recall someone saying it is a pain to resize pics?

If you can get them down anywhere close to 1024x768 they load pretty fast.

Learning how to re-size pics is something you really should do. Usually your PC has an editing program somewhere for it, or you can download one.
Makes life pretty easy after you figure it out.

I can resize pics easy enough, just meant that I had seen where people had said it was a pain to have to resize pics every time they want to post. It was that and the bandwidth of the site. I am a moderator on another forum and the bandwidth is always an issue, so members are asked to host pics elsewhere. I had assumed it would be the same here.

I actually like photobucket, when it's working properly! Might look into a new hosting site.

I forget if there is a limit on how many attachments you guys can have (I don't have a limit .. lol).
Last I knew though, we liked attachments, as that means no lost pics from dead links and such.

Mark re sizing photo's is easy and takes seconds 100 percent of my photo's uploaded on this site have been resized by myself.

Type this into google " imageresizer-2.1_x86 " the very latest version is v3.1.0 so download that version if you like. Takes seconds to install on your system.

Upload photo's off your camera to windows pictures select a photo file and right click on any photo and you will know notice " resize picture " option is know available.

Right click and drag over the photos to select them all click on resize picture a small box will appear select 854 x 480 click resize entire file will know be resized. You will have one photo original size and next to it resized photo as well.

Takes seconds try it out! No stupid joining routine and your photos will be there forever and not end up with " photo not available subscription ended blah blah blah " !!!

Thanks Alex. I have a good graphics program where I can resize the pics, just didn't realise it was the done thing... might give it a go if there is no issue with bandwidth

This would be good to know. I use photobucket, but I'm in no way married to it.

Just did some looking around in the "back-office"....

There are no attachment limits on you guys as far as total attachments on this board.
You can only load 10 per post, and 5 per PM, other than that, no limits at this time.

I can confirm this I have attached 100's of photo's direct off my hard drive since 2013 and not hit any limits yet in fact 100 percent of my photo's have been done this way

Limit of ten per post is a bit of a bummer at times but still a great system.
