Morning Clod Gods :)

I am in the middle of my Racer project, and I am getting very frustrated with the truck's turning radius (or lack thereof)

There HAS to be a way to make this thing turn tighter - I am already using a high torque servo (HS-645MG) with it mounted on the gearbox (see my other post about the plates I whipped up).

I would prefer not to have to run rear-steer, but it looks like it may be the only option!

So what have you done to improve this? Could you post pics please?

Thanks!

Bob

Grind off the steering stops. This helps a lot.

Thanks, I did this already - the problem is exacerbated by the fact that I am stretched quite a bit - I am running the Clodzilla IV chassis, plus the links are attached to plates that stretch t some more.

How about extensions? I have been thinking about higher-clearance knuckles and tubes - but I need this done NLT next week

(sorry, this pic is of the rear where the steering is locked out).

Which stops, the ones on the hub or axle?

Huge. Of course I'm still running four-wheel-steering so it's really great.

The turn radius is radically improved if you do both the hubs and axle.

However- something to ask this crawler guy back when he asked would have been if he locked the axles- that would have been a big reason the turn radius is poor. Locked hubs limit steering- some people lock the rear and then put a thicker diff grease in the front. Just saying!

I can not verify this, but in theory a behind the axle setup might help. It will help with slower speed turning anyway.

Sorry gents, life has been crazy :)

The high clear and knuckles and outers helped, but ironically they are also restrictive given the layout of the arm itself :(.

My axles are not locked, but the steering throw I was hoping to gain with the high clearance knuckles has not improved it much - I will try to get pics (I am writing this while on line at the mall lolol)
