Thank you for following the CowRc Michigan Monster racing series! Round 6 is in the books and it was a full day of racing… some people arrived before 8:00AM and dismissed after 9:30 at night, awesome. We were able to see 3 full rounds of racing and it’s anyone’s series to win or lose. This course was exciting with a roll-in start to medium jump over 5 crushed cars. From there we did “S” patterned flats into a big turn for the finish line. Interesting to note, not as many DQ’s and time penalties as we experienced in the past :)

Image

In the “Rookies” class we saw new front runner Andrew Franklin scoring all three TQ points with his Flamin Green Ford and Monster Bronco, both equipped with ZRP Diablos. After this round, there is a five person race for 2nd and 3rd place; Craig’s Excaliber, Doug’s Amsoil, Josh’s Grave Digger, Andre’s Flamin Ford and Molly’s Bus Burner. Others are not far behind. It will really come down to who shows up for this final race in April and brings home the points!

Our next racing class is “Traxxas Monster Jam Stampede.” This class is fun, box stock racing at its best! Can you believe it, 26 trucks competed in this class this weekend? Not only do you see the regular Traxxas MJ body styles like Grave Digger (and his son), Max D, Monster Mutt, Captains Curse and Grinder. But others have gone on to produce Madusa, Bounty Hunter, Metal Mulisha and Monster Energy. Really cool!
TQ’s were split three ways with Dan’s 30th GD in round 1, Jimmy’s GD in round 2, and Mikey’s Captains Curse in 3. WHAT… hold the boat, Jimmy in MJ class? Yup, finally and it was like he was here all along. Jimmy produced a good day of racing with a respectable 7 points for Grave Digger, stirring things up for the front runners. Mikey has a comfortable lead with his Max D sitting at 61 points. But once again look for the race for 2 and 3. Dan, Mikey and Matt are all going to be racing it out…

Once again the TQ points were spread across three racers; Mike’s Captain America in round 1, Mikey’s Bigfoot in round 2 and Dan Dufore’s new ZRP Diablo K&N in round 3. 39 truck entries for this round, that’s a lot of trucks! Newcomer to our series (kinda) but not racing, Kris from Darkside Designs threw down with us this week.

A lot of trucks scored double digits with points this week; Jimmy’s Hot Wheels (10) and Team GT (14), Mikey’s Odyssey (11) Summit (10) and Bigfoot (12), and Dan’s new K&N (12). There is a close race for the top 5 spots and it’s really anyone’s race to win or lose. Keep an eye out for these guys and the pursuit of dominance. Speaking of pursuit, don’t count Phil G out… sitting in 6th. This kid is fast when he needs to be and can sneak right up there!
