That's a great start too stock Slash. That is a fun class that I really wish we still had.

I can't wait!

Dave and SFC K.... STOCK SLASH class, tires and motor must be stock.

I got this from JKRacing37, so I want to try it out as is... he's pretty good at setting up a truck.

I used his setup on my old 4wd buggy. He raced the same brand buggy years ago and I used his setup today and it worked really good. The buggy was pretty fast.

Great day at the races! :) All the fast guys were here this week....

Worked on getting good lap times during the qualifiers and got ready for the A-mains.
I was not sure what to expect, as I was only getting 5-6-7 place finishes.

Had another good outing with the slash 4x4. Started off strong, but then had some crashes and got tangled up really slowing me down. After that I settled into a groove and started turning good laps and worked my way up for a 4th place finish in a large and competitive field.

The big news was the stock slash! (and yes, it's paint-job was a hit)
I ran my low-voltage alarm in the first heat and that was a mistake, as I had it set high, and it was going off before the end of the race.
(after that it got put away)

The other thing was changing the gear ratio, as the 83/18 gearing was just too slow. Either that or the motor was weak...but it wasn't running hot, so in went a 23t pinion, and temps were fine. More importantly, I had some really good speed down the back stretch.

Heat 2 was a little better, I think I got 5th. Stock slash is a BIG class here, there were a lot of us.

Then came the A-main, and boy were there a LOT of crashes!
I was fortunate enough to avoid most of them and not get stuck in the traffic very often. I just ran a clean and simple race, just feeling in tune with both the truck and the track, lap-after-lap, and finished 4th.

I'm really happy with the way the 2WD slash is handling, I don't see me messing with it too much right now. The racer who had it before me apparently set it up really well.

The slash 4x4 needs some tuning for sure. It has a "push" and the balance (both shock and wt) F+R need work as they are not even.

Pretty good race-day at the Barn today!

I got my butt kicked in 4WD SCT open (5th out of 6), but hey, at least I wasn't last.

The big news was stock-slash. :)
We had a full field of 8-10 trucks... and yours truly scored a solid 3rd place finish. 8)

.....and I did it running BFG tires too!
I found a pair that seemed a little softer, I'm betting S-1's (compound), could not tell, as someone had rubbed the sidewall clean, and the outer shoulder was worn and feathered too. I put these on a set of wheel with an interesting tire-foam idea... you know those little foam rings proline gives you for using their closed cell foams with traxxas wheels?....... yup.... that's what I used for foam..... and nothing else.

Made the truck turn really well, and took some getting used to, but it was also very forgiving of over-correction, and had great forward bite. I checked with the track owner, they were fine with it. I tried running the other tires in heat-2, but I went back to these..... and I'll be sticking with them, unless I do the same to the other tires.

Sweet Andy! Interesting find with the foams. Glad they let you run them.

The R/C Barn was packed today! .... 51 entries!
Both A-mains I ran in today were full (10 trucks) and yes, there were B-mains.

Finished 4th in stock-slash and also got 4th in 4WD SCT open.
I had shots at 3rd in both classes, but just could not hang on.

Managed my best lap of the day.... 20.9 seconds in heat #1 of 4WD SCT.
The track was really good. A lot of us worked on it Wednesday night after the races were over.

Sounds like a blast Andy. Congrats on the first place =D>

Watch out!, some say that racing is more addicting than....well...all that bad stuff that your not supposed to do
Its been 23 years for me, in one form or another, still can't shake it.

Love the new truck BTW.
No space for shelf queens.....use it or loose it!

The only addiction I have is R/C..... oh and..... :explosion:

Wish I could have gotten a 1st this week......
I have seriously considered giving up on 4WD open, and getting another 2WD truck and running in 2WD open instead.
Transitioning back and forth from 2WD (stock slash) to 4WD.... really messes with you at times.... :?
However.... I'm 2nd in point in the 4WD class.

Another good outing this past Sunday, both classes I ran had full A-mains (10 trucks).
Placed 5th in 4x4 short coarse open, and 3rd in stock-slash.
