Differential Suggestion!

Post by Bolt_Crank » Thu Feb 15, 2007 12:30 pm

I think y'all should try and make a diff that's sealed, so us gear loving diff guys can have some sort of fluid tuning vs. ball diffs...

No oil stays in a clod diff because they are wide open...

Not even 120,000 weight oil will stay in the Clod diff

The only thing I can think of, which could be incredibly messy, is to fill the entire bottom half of the gear case... And hope it doesn't leak

I've been putting grease at the seams, bearing and axel. It's not an o-ring, you get a drip here and there other than that it's been holding five to eight grams of oil. It keeps the gear slippery and from wearing and it works for me. It makes me happy!!!!

Just gotta find a way to fill it up enough to affect the diff, and not touch any of the other gears...

It would be much easier if someone just made a sealed diff for it

The ball diff won't really be affected by oil in the gear case...

What I want is a bevel gear diff (just like what's in there stock) that's completely sealed so I can change the fluid in it...

My Clod has uber power, and I want uber reliability of set it and forget it... Ball diffs are nice, but TTR doesn't make them anymore, so getting a rebuild kit might be difficult...

Nope... Thunder Tech isn't coming out with a sealed anything... I think they might have or are working on delrin axle tubes or cases... But they've discontinued the ball diff.
