New Gearcase Designs!

Post by Thunder VP » Tue Mar 21, 2006 4:11 am

Here's a peek at things to come from Thunder Tech Racing. New designs for the Clodbuster gearcases, axle tubes and steering knuckles. (concept 4-link bars are also shown)

We will be on vacation in Las Vegas for the next week, but thought you would like to see what we have been up to the last few months.
The molds are currently in production and the axle tubes and steering knuckles are expected in 8-10 weeks and the gearcases 5-6 weeks after that.

Those are nice! :o It looks like the ability to run the steering in the front or rear of the axle. That is great. :D

Pricing will be set after we get the first few samples from the molds. Estimated pricing will be around $15.00/pr for the steering knuckels, $20-$25/ pr for the axle tubes and $25-$30 for the gearcase sides. The gearcases will also include a longer center gear counter shaft and full hardware kit.

Material will be a mix of nylon and poly carbonate with glass impregnated. We tested some different materials and we went with the strongest we could find that will still have a smooth glossy finish.

We will start out with basic black but could do some other colors (like silver or gray) in the future.

i was just wondering. what exactly does the gearcase part do? and just for reference, can you explain what these upgrades do for the truck?

... from the looks of it....

1. shaving weight and a more efficient design
2. improved steering stability
3. integrated mounting system for the upper and lower 4 link bar systems
4. no modification of stock parts needed to allow for more steering throw
5. better preformance from the Aggressor steering system
6. stronger axle tube design (less breakage)

... that's just my take on what the design might offer of the current stock parts :D
