RC-Parts Aluminum Wheels

Anybody have any experience with these wheels? They look good and are priced better than most aluminum wheels I've seen. The web site is http://www.rc-parts.com/home.htm

The body style is the same for 81 - 87 Chevy trucks, some of the base models only had 2 head lights with the signal light under the head light, which is what the clod style has.

Buy a new kit, I did and sold the stock chassis, chassis parts, chrome wheels, stock speed control, and stock motors for just over $100 on ebay. If you bought the pieces to build the gear boxes it would run about $140, so you save $40 and get a free body and tires.

Tamiya made some QD 1/14 scale trucks that had a high/low switch, these trucks were prebuilt, basically Radio Shack quality.

Are you using 8 or 10 inch wheels? Assuming you have a 73-87 GM 4x4 35's will probably rub when you get it twisted up with 8 inch wheels, and will definately rub with 10 inch wheels. You could do a bit of fender trimming or add a body lift. Or You could go with a 6 inch lift, but you will need to ge...

Pro-Line or Imex?

I am trying to decide between Pro-line Masher 2000's and Imex Swamp Dawgs. I have always used Pro-line tires and have had very good results, but Imex has some cool looking tires, Just wondering how they compare, rubber compound, quality etc.

Anyone have pictures of Clod's with 2.2 wheels ?

I've seen a couple clods with 2.2 wheels, do they mount without any mods? I thought it would be cool to be able to swap different size tires and wheels once in a while. If anybody has some good pictures I would love to see them.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll try it with open diffs first. I've also heard you can trim the steering stops to get more steering as well.

Locked diff pro's and con's

Hi, I'm building my first Clod, and need advise on locked diffs. I was going to use it for general bashing, so I was going to lock the rear diff and maybe the front as well. My question is how does a clod with locked diffs steer? Would it steer better or worse with the front locked, and do I need 4W...

I am building my first clod and was wondering what motors to use, I was thinking of either 16 or 17 turn motors, I will be using it for general backyard bashing, any suggestions would be appreciated.
