Re: April 2017 Winner: KONG's TTR Centurion "Monster Woody"

Congratulations! As soon as I saw that sweet woodside paint job, I knew who was going to win. Very nice job.

Re: Bumbalumptious Bug Update: The Hell Kitty

This Kitty is done! Lights all work, although it was pretty much impossible to find a way to show them in operation without blinding the camera: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/Kitty%20Clod/DSC_0889.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/Kitty%20Clod/DSC_0890.jpg It do...

Re: Bumbalumptious Bug Update: The Hell Kitty

Man, you know how much a compliment means to me when it comes from you, potatobeanocatweabthingamabob! This is just a little bit of makeup and some stretching exercises for an old Clod, nothing too special. That having been said, I'm going to have one more update coming soon, maybe tomorrow. My prin...

EVX2 Setup question.

Got a question, sort of a minor annoyance really, on my EVX-2. I have one of the ones with the LVD warning, but I've just got the truck finished so I have yet to run a full pack through it. The problem I'm having is that it frequently seems to "lose" its throttle settings when it's turned off or unp...

Re: Bumbalumptious Bug Update: The Hell Kitty

Ok, I know this doesn't really count as an update, but I got my EVX-2 in last week, then found out that Traxxas uses their own electrical connectors, then messed up one of my two remaining Dean's plugs with my poor soldering skills. However, I went to the semi-LHS today, got some more plugs, got eve...

Congrats, you had my vote! (and thanks to whoever cast the lone vote for Grond. Not sorry I lost, I just didn't want to see the competition not happen :) )

Re: Friendly Towing Service 6x6

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it. I just realized while I was posting the pics that the final set don't include the front bumper. I'll have to try and get some new ones, but to tell the truth, it's just been sitting for a few years. Might be time to get her back on the dirt, if I can find any.

Re: Friendly Towing Service 6x6

And finally a short video: kiZSlwE5Phc Started the build in July of 2010, finished in March of 2011, and I don't even want to think about how much I spent on it, but it's really, in all its grotty glory, one of the best and most complex things I've ever done. Thanks for looking, and if you have any ...

Re: Friendly Towing Service 6x6

Needs some bumper stickers: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/scaler/DSCN1761.jpg Chassis painted Tamiya Red Brown, and the transmission painted red to look like an engine. Not that it shows when the body is on, but I feel better when the details are all done. http://i151.photobucket....

Magnetic body mounts, rare earth magnets and allthread. I've improved on my technique for this since, but this was my first try: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/scaler/DSCN1626.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/scaler/DSCN1628.jpg Body mounted! http://i151.photobu...

Body time!: The Bullhead had not yet been re-released, so I ended up getting one of the few NIP body sets still available at the time: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/scaler/DSCN1602.jpg I really don't like the Bullhead's headlights, and this is not supposed to be a modern truck, so...

Re: Friendly Towing Service 6x6

This is where the CAD stuff really comes in handy. I wasn't sure how I wanted the rear boom/bed area to look. With a properly done Sketchup drawing, you can test different options quickly and easily. I knew my theme was going to be a bodged-together, Tucker & Dale style wrecker, not something shiny ...

Rear leaf walking beam (the leaf doesn't flex much) suspension. I found that Wild Willy 2000 servo savers were perfect to mount the delrin leafs to: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/scaler/DSCN1573.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/japanval/scaler/DSCN1574.jpg http://i151.p...
