Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

Andy knows his stuff so I wouldn't doubt him, but I've been running these shafts on my TXT-2 for a few years without boots and they're good as new. I run the truck through mud/water/snow quite often and never had an issue with them. I'm sure the boots would help protect them, but I experienced the s...

Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

Paint job looks awesome, really nice job.

Do you happen to know of any online stores in Japan that stock TXT parts? I really need to get a hold of some diff/axle parts. Have quite a few TXT-1/TXT-2 trucks. I used to get a lot from Jason's store, but he seems to be out of stock on most TXT stuff.

Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

It would be really nice to see a new truck from Tamiya with some new design features as Alex said. As for Clod tires they are readily available from Tamiya, Proline, and JConcepts. I don't see tires as the issue right now for the TXT trucks part wise. Its the gear box parts that are currently unavai...

Re: Basher67's Custom Clodbuster

Nice looking truck. For an ESC, I would recommend the Hobbywing 860: http://www.hobbywing.com/goods.php?id=357&filter_attr=0 They run about $20-$25 on Amazon/Ebay and are rated for 12T on a 2S Lipo. They also come with a fan to keep temps down. I bought one earlier this year for one of my trucks and...

Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

Anything with an 11.5-13" wheelbase will fit. I have had numerous Proline bodies on my TXTs and you can always cheat the wheelbase a bit for it to look good.

Re: Alex's ZRP Retro Racer aka ???

Wow, really? As I said not sure if the oven cleaner harms plastic but I never had an issue. I usually spray the wheels and let it soak for about 5-10 minutes, then run them under water and the chrome is gone. Maybe if its left on for longer it can have some negative effects. I'll definitely try the ...

Re: Alex's ZRP Retro Racer aka ???

Ive never heard of using bleach, interesting idea. I use the extra strength oven cleaner spray. Spray it on and chrome is gone within 10-15 minutes. I don't believe it harms the plastic at all, I've done it on 3-4 sets of chrome clod rims and no issues.

Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

Why are you wrapping the outside of the body when painting? I thought these has overspray film. At least I remember it having a film when I painted mine. Either way I feel your pain, painting is my least favorite part of RC. I much prefer building and tinkering to painting bodies.

Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

There are plenty of pickup bodies that fit the TXT, just shoot for approximately a 12" wheelbase. Good thing about monster trucks is you can cheat the wheelbase a bit by trimming to make pretty much anything with 11-13" wheelbase look good. I mostly use Proline bodies and have used the 66 Ford, 08 F...

Re: ironcorn's TXT-2

Agreed. We need to keep buying these so Tamiya keeps making them! I just convinced by father to buy one and he loves it. Both of mine never had the stock tires installed, I modified them pretty heavily right away. I drove his completely stock with 4WS, stock motors, and stock tires and its a really ...

Re: Axial SCX10 1979 Bigfoot 2.2

Good idea Andy, I'll have to get some good photos. I wanted to leave the lockers in as I would mainly use it as a low speed crawler, but I think I have some extra diff gears lying around somewhere. Definitely worth a shot. I wanted to add 4WS either way so I'll mess with it once I have the parts for...

Re: Axial SCX10 1979 Bigfoot 2.2

Thanks Alex. I'm pretty happy with it, has a cool mini monster truck look to it. Looks like a Bigfoot with 48" tires. Took it out for a little run tonight and while it looks good, it performs terribly...Parts are on the way for a full 4-link setup and 4 wheel steer which should help a lot with the t...
