Re: Clod steering stops

Thanks for the links. Part of the issue is I don't want to widen this build. Its going to be and old school Sassy Chassis/4-link build with a standard width truck.

Re: Speeding up my Bennett Clod

Lipo must be some serious power. I've had that Castle 4600 in a Tamiya WR01, Stadium Blitzer and Traxxas Stampede before its current home in my TXT-2, all on 8.4 nimh and all virtually uncontrollably fast (except the TXT-2). I guess at this point, I'd be happy if the twin Titans on 14.4 were faster ...

Speeding up my Bennett Clod

I've been running my Bennett Clod with 8.4v and twin HPI Firebolts for a while now and am thinking about making things a bit quicker. I run strictly Nimh packs and the chassis can hold one 8.4v hump pack, one 7.2v pack or two 7.2v packs. I'm shooting for around stock brushed Emaxx speeds (25 mph I'm...

Clod steering stops

Quick question. Is it possible to shave some of the stock steering stops off a Clod hub (and if so, how much?) to get a little more steering with the stock axle shafts? Not quite ready to go with CVDs for this current build yet.

Re: SMT10 required items

Thanks. I was hoping to save the drivetrain a bit by keeping the stock tires, but that sounds like a no-go looks-wise. The trans gears I kinda figured on. I might still be on the fence. I want a scale truck and I like the my smaller CR-01 truck I built. The Axial has the beginnings of that scale loo...

SMT10 required items

I MIGHT be lucky enough to have the funds for an SMT10 in the future. My question is simple, what mods does the truck need out of the box to run a mild brushless (or even a 12T Titan) and be reliable. I don't want Clod tires. I don't want stupid power, just more entertaining than the slow stock setu...

Re: Royal Crusher

Oh, I remember the Royal Crusher. I also have that issue of RCCA (I remember getting a kick out of the cover saying "bad Halgars trucks are cooler than mine Lunch Box). They actually made the truck seem ok in that article. Royal stuff wasn't exactly considered top shelf. Trust me, you made out far b...

The Wroad Wrecker lives! I remember that awesome bit of Bullhead. Didn't that use Sassy Chassis then-prototype 6x6 chassis?

Re: Any non clod 6x6s ?

I think it was called the Behemoth. I read RCCA issues cover to cover probably 100 times over back then. Now all the stuff is stuck in my memory banks, lol.

Parma?

Has anybody noticed that Parma bodies seem to be disappearing off Tower's website? Are they going out of business or pulling out of RC? Even their own site stock seems diminished. Its a bummer as they had direct fit lexan Clod, Blackfoot, Monster Beetle, Lunch Box, Pumpkin and Grasshopper bodies.

Re: Any non clod 6x6s ?

RCCA's Bill O'Brien (who I believe is Hardedge, a member here) built the first 6x6 (technically a 6x4, I guess) out of a couple of Blackfoots (Blackfeet?) and some Hot Trick parts for the the August '89 issue IIRC. The very next month Jon Freed's Monster Mack appeared on the cover, but it was Clod b...

Re: CR01 transmission options

Yeah, unlocking the diffs was the first thing I did. I rearranged the top structure so the battery is to the rear. I also ditched the cantilever damper/free standing spring setup for standard coil overs set at an angle. I did make sure to keep the swaybar setup however. Torque twist isn't bad at all...

Re: CR01 transmission options

Well, as an update, I swapped out the Firebolt (which must have been dying) for a 12T Titan and I think the truck is fast enough for now. Its fast enough that I might have to put wheel wideners on it as its a bit tippy in the turns. Glad I didn't have to swap out the trans as I love how quiet and sm...
