I converted all my stuff over to the Power Pole connectors that Brett has a link to and I love them! I noticed a big improvement in performance over the Tamiya plugs! I know the Deans work very well also but they look to be harder to solder and they also look easy to connect wrong, I think they are ...

I used some spare collars from body mount posts that I had, works great on 1/4" links...

one advantage of mounting the upper bars to the center of the gearbox is the triangulation of the bars.
