Re: Keeping LEDs in headlight buckets

Shoe goo would be your best bet. Hot glue doesn't adhere very well and with the banging around it'll come loose.

Re: King Hauler

Trust me after your first stock you'll never have another. You'll open a box kit and start hacking right away. lol. Out of the four I've built in the last 2 years the closest one to stock is my first and even at that out of the box it got aluminum wheels, full metal tranny, half fenders, upgraded ax...

Re: Help with these dag gone driveshafts

Couple of things can be done. First make sure you clean all the threads as good as you can. Any kind of contaminants left behind can cause the Loctite to not set properly. Second if using blue Loctite let it setup for a day or so. If this doesn't help then simply go with red Loctite and this will so...

At that rate buy a new kit then. By the time you buy all the parts you need you'll be way up there.

Re: cheapest way to get new clod buster axle assemblies

Either on the b/s/t forum here or on the clodbuster facebook page. I think there's a set of axles on there right now for $80 shipped in the US.

Re: SCx10 axles and gear with clod rims, on brushless combo?

You'll need to upgrade the tranny to all steel gears and you are better using the AR60/wraith axles as they are wider otherwise you'll need some major wideners for the scx10 axles to get some good clearance. Not sure how the stock diff gears will last but run them till the blow and then upgrade to t...

The hubs are held on with 2 screws that match the molded ones on the hub.

Re: capacitor keeps going poof

And really with 2.4ghz technology you don't really need capacitor's anymore on motors. They were to reduce the "noise" made by the brushes arching and could cause interference with the old crystal radios.

Re: Most popular connector

I've used deans since they came out and haven't looked back. The powerpoles were nice in their day but I found that over time the spring tension would weaken and cause arcing which then damaged the connectors over time, not to mention they are a tad bulky too. If you do go with deans stay with genui...

Re: EVX-2, 2 x 2S Lipo's & 15T Firebolts (something went poo

You over voltaged the motors. The EVX should've been able to handle those motors and power fine but the motors themselves are probably both dead, the only thing is if a motor shorted that could've done in the EVX. A standard 540 can motor is only really designed to handle a max of 8.4v and even that...

Ouch, that one hurts. I would wonder if it even made it in the garbage and didn't end up in the cab of the garbage truck.

Re: Clod 3-motor ESC?

Good point, never thought about them having a brushed mode on their ESC's. I've had issue with Castle ESC's, BEC's but never their motors. As for Tekin I've run them since they came out and only ever had one issue and that was way back in the beginning with the old 4 hole, black heatsink ones. And t...

Re: Clod 3-motor ESC?

To do something like this, even without speed, is not going to be cheap. You can either watch ebay or some of the facebook groups for people selling used ESC's. I haven't personally used them but I know a few racers that use the Hobbywing 1/8 ESC's in their e-buggies and they swear by them. I know a...

Re: Clod 3-motor ESC?

Personally I'd be looking more at the 1/8 scale ESC's. They are a lot more robust and usually have better/higher BEC. If it was my project I would look at a Gen2 RX8 with a 6 or 7.4v @ 7amp BEC to power your steering servos and good for up to 6s. Not that you'll go that high but if you find the truc...
